The Notre Dame Cathedral, located on the Ǝle de la CitĆ© in the Seine River, stands as one of the most iconic landmarks of Paris. Construction began in 1163 under Bishop Maurice de Sully and continued for nearly two centuries, showcasing the grandeur of French Gothic architecture. Throughout its history, it has hosted major events, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte, and underwent a significant 19th-century restoration led by Viollet-le-Duc. The surrounding ecosystem is shaped by the Seine River, home to fish, aquatic birds, and riparian vegetation. Nearby green spaces feature trees such as lindens and chestnuts, supporting urban wildlife like pigeons, sparrows, and blackbirds. Although situated in a dense city environment, the area forms a unique microecosystem where historical architecture harmoniously coexists with plant and animal life.
