Its ecosystem is influenced by the Guadalquivir River, supporting Mediterranean flora such as orange trees, olive trees, and jacarandas. Urban fauna includes birds like swallows, pigeons, and herons. Nearby natural parks host diverse biodiversity. The warm, dry climate shapes its ecological balance and environmental development over time.

Sevilla

Seville, the capital of Andalusia, has a rich history dating back to Roman Hispalis, flourishing under Islamic rule and later gaining prominence after the Christian conquest in 1248. During the 16th and 17th centuries, it became a major hub for trade with the Americas. Its ecosystem lies within the valley of the Guadalquivir River, shaped by a warm Mediterranean climate. The flora features bitter orange trees, jacarandas, and olive trees, while surrounding landscapes support holm oaks and Mediterranean shrubland. Urban and peri-urban fauna include birds such as swallows, storks, and swifts, along with small mammals and reptiles. Parks and riverbanks enhance biodiversity. Seville blends historical heritage with adapted natural environments, illustrating the ongoing interaction between culture, climate, and ecosystem.

Metropol Parasol

The Metropol Parasol, popularly called "Las Setas," is a contemporary structure located in Seville's Plaza de la Encarnación. Designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer and inaugurated in 2011, it stands above Roman and Almohad archaeological remains, blending history with modern design. Built mainly from laminated wood, it is among the largest wooden structures in the world. The complex features a market, museum, panoramic walkways, and cultural spaces, revitalizing a historic area while becoming a prominent urban and tourist landmark in the city.
