Oslo
Oslo, the capital of Norway, was founded around the year 1000 and rebuilt after the 1624 fire by King Christian IV of Denmark. Surrounded by the Oslofjord and vast boreal forests, it hosts a rich ecosystem with pine, birch, and wildlife such as moose, foxes, and seabirds. Its parks and protected areas reflect a close relationship between urban life and nature, emphasizing sustainability and environmental conservation across the region today.

Oslo
Oslo, the capital of Norway, lies between the Oslofjord and vast boreal forests. Founded around 1040 by King Harald Hardrada, it developed as a Viking and medieval trading hub. After fires and reconstructions, it transformed into a modern, sustainable city. Its ecosystem blends fjords, hills, and urban parks such as Frogner Park. Flora includes pine, birch, and oak trees, while fauna features moose, foxes, seabirds, and marine life in the fjord. Oslo stands out for balancing urban growth with environmental preservation, maintaining extensive green spaces and strong policies that protect its rich local biodiversity.

Oslo
Oslo, the capital of Norway, lies at the head of the Oslofjord and blends Viking heritage with modern Scandinavian design. Founded around 1040 by King Harald Hardrada, it became a key medieval trade hub. After a devastating fire in 1624, King Christian IV of Denmark rebuilt the city as Christiania. Today, Oslo is known for sustainability and access to nature. Its ecosystems include boreal forests, wetlands, and marine coasts, supporting wildlife such as moose, foxes, deer, and migratory birds. The fjord contains fish, mollusks, and algae essential to marine life. Vegetation features birch, pine, and spruce trees adapted to cold climates. Urban green spaces like Frogner Park illustrate the city's balance between ecological preservation and urban development.

The Vigeland Park
The Vigeland Park, located in Frogner Park in Oslo, is the largest sculptural complex created by a single artist: Gustav Vigeland. Opened progressively between 1920 and 1943, it brings together more than 200 works in bronze, granite, and wrought iron that explore the human condition. Its surroundings include meadows, Nordic trees, and paths that promote urban biodiversity. The landscape design balances art and nature, providing habitats for birds and small mammals, making it a prominent cultural and ecological space in Norway.
