Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, located in the heart of London, has served as the official residence of the British monarchy since 1837, during the reign of Queen Victoria. Originally known as Buckingham House, it was built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham and later transformed into a royal palace in the 19th century. Over time, it has hosted significant historical events, state ceremonies, and national celebrations. Its grounds include about 17 hectares of private gardens, forming an important urban sanctuary. This ecosystem supports over 350 species of wildflowers, as well as mature trees such as plane trees and oaks. The gardens provide habitat for diverse wildlife, including birds like swans, ducks, and sparrows, along with small mammals and pollinating insects. These elements contribute to ecological balance, making the gardens one of the most significant private green spaces in the city.

Big Ben

Big Ben, the popular name for the Great Bell of the Palace of Westminster, is one of London's most iconic landmarks, located near Buckingham Palace. Completed in 1859, its tower, officially called Elizabeth Tower, features striking Neo-Gothic architecture designed by Augustus Pugin. Throughout history, it has marked significant national events and survived damage during World War II. Its precise clock mechanism and distinctive chimes continue to symbolize British heritage, serving as a cultural, historical, and tourist centerpiece in the United Kingdom.
