Santorini
Santorini, located in the Aegean Sea, was formed after a massive volcanic eruption more than 3,500 years ago, creating its famous caldera. Its white villages, built on volcanic cliffs, reflect Cycladic and Venetian influences. The island's ecosystem includes resilient vineyards, fig trees, and wildflowers adapted to dry, mineral rich soils. Its fauna features seabirds, lizards, and Mediterranean fish species. Crystal clear waters, volcanic cliffs, and a warm dry climate create a remarkable natural landscape with significant ecological importance in Greece.

Santorini
The island of Santorini, located in the Aegean Sea, was formed after a massive volcanic eruption around the 17th century BC, creating its famous caldera and influencing the decline of the ancient Minoan civilization. Its whitewashed villages, perched on volcanic cliffs, reflect centuries of Greek, Byzantine, and Venetian heritage. Santorini's ecosystem combines arid terrain, volcanic soil, and a dry Mediterranean climate, ideal for vineyards and resilient crops such as tomatoes and capers. Its flora includes olive trees, bougainvillea, and aromatic herbs, while the fauna features seabirds, lizards, and migratory species. Crystal clear waters and dramatic volcanic landscapes make Santorini one of the Mediterranean's most remarkable natural and cultural destinations.

Santorini
The island of Santorini, located in the Aegean Sea, is one of Greece's most iconic destinations because of its volcanic origin and extraordinary natural beauty. Formed after a massive volcanic eruption around the 16th century BC, the island preserves a dramatic caldera surrounded by cliffs with spectacular panoramic views. Historically, Santorini was closely connected to the Minoan civilization, especially through the ancient settlement of Akrotiri, considered one of the Mediterranean's most important archaeological sites. Its Mediterranean ecosystem supports drought resistant flora such as vineyards, olive trees, bougainvillea, and aromatic herbs adapted to volcanic soils. The island's fauna includes seabirds, lizards, and migratory species that use Santorini as a seasonal refuge. The dry climate, mineral rich terrain, and constant marine influence create a unique ecological environment where nature, history, and culture coexist harmoniously, attracting visitors from around the world.

Akrotiri Lighthouse
The Akrotiri Lighthouse is one of Santorini's most iconic lighthouses, located on the island's southwestern cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea. Built in 1892 by a French Mediterranean lighthouse company, it became an essential navigation point for fishing and commercial vessels crossing the Cyclades. The lighthouse was temporarily inactive during World War II before later restoration efforts preserved its historic structure. The surrounding ecosystem features dry Mediterranean vegetation, wind resistant shrubs, aromatic herbs, and migratory seabirds. Nearby volcanic cliffs, dark lava formations, and deep blue waters reveal the island's geological history shaped by powerful volcanic eruptions over thousands of years.
