Epidauro Theatre

The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus was built in the 4th century B.C. by the architect Polykleitos the Younger and is regarded as one of the best preserved ancient theaters in Greece. It formed part of the Sanctuary of Asclepius, an important healing and religious center of the ancient Greek world. Surrounded by hills covered with pine, cypress, and olive trees, the region supports Mediterranean birds, foxes, and small reptiles. Its ecosystem combines dry Mediterranean forest with aromatic plants such as thyme and rosemary, creating a natural landscape that enhances the theater's remarkable acoustics and architectural harmony.
