Santa Clara
Santa Clara is a city in central Cuba and the capital of Villa Clara province. It was founded on July 15, 1689, by settlers from Remedios who moved inland to escape pirate attacks along the coast. Over time, it became a key transportation, commercial, and cultural hub due to its central location on the island. One of its most significant historical events is the Battle of Santa Clara in 1958, led by Ernesto Che Guevara, which played a decisive role in the Cuban Revolution. The local ecosystem reflects central Cuba's natural environment, characterized by tropical savanna vegetation, palm trees, ceiba trees, and agricultural landscapes. Native and adapted flora thrives in both urban and rural zones. Wildlife includes common Cuban birds such as herons and mockingbirds, reptiles like lizards, and small mammals in surrounding rural areas. Nearby ecosystems show greater biodiversity with migratory birds and endemic Cuban species. The region blends urban development with surrounding agricultural and semi-forested natural areas.

Cathedral of Saint Clare of Assisi
The Cathedral of Santa Clara of Assisi is one of the city's main religious landmarks. Built in the early 20th century and consecrated in 1923, it features an eclectic architectural style with neoclassical and colonial influences. Its austere faƧade, crowned by twin bell towers, stands prominently in Parque Vidal, the historic center of Santa Clara. Inside, it houses marble altars, colorful stained glass, and a solemn atmosphere reflecting local Catholic traditions. Over time, it has witnessed significant social and religious events, becoming a spiritual and cultural gathering place for the community.
