Bodrum
Bodrum, located on the Aegean coast, is one of Turkey's most iconic destinations. Known in antiquity as Halicarnassus, it was home to the renowned Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Its Mediterranean ecosystem features pine-covered hills, olive groves, and aromatic shrubs such as thyme and sage. Local wildlife includes migratory birds, gulls, cormorants, reptiles, and small mammals adapted to dry conditions. Coastal waters support fish, octopuses, and seagrass meadows of Posidonia, which play a vital role in marine biodiversity. Today, Bodrum successfully balances historical heritage, tourism development, and environmental conservation efforts.

Bodrum
Bodrum, located on Turkey's southwestern coast, stands on the site of ancient Halicarnassus, one of the most significant cities of the Carian region. Founded by the Greeks and later incorporated into the Persian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires, Bodrum is renowned for the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Its landscape features Mediterranean hills, crystal clear bays, and an extensive coastline. The local flora is characterized by Turkish pine forests, olive groves, cypress trees, mastic shrubs, thyme, and many aromatic plants adapted to the region's dry, sunny climate. Wildlife includes foxes, wild boars, hedgehogs, reptiles, and numerous migratory bird species that pass through the peninsula seasonally. Marine habitats support groupers, octopuses, dolphins, and sea turtles. Bodrum's ecosystem represents a valuable balance of Mediterranean biodiversity, historical heritage, and protected coastal environments, making it one of Turkey's most distinctive natural and cultural destinations.

Bodrum Castle
The Bodrum Castle is a remarkable medieval fortress built by the Knights of St. John between 1402 and 1437 on an ancient acropolis overlooking Bodrum's natural harbor. Its walls contain stones taken from the nearby Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. After the Ottoman conquest in 1522, the castle served important military and defensive roles. Today it houses the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. The surrounding Mediterranean coastal environment features maquis shrubland, pine trees, olive groves, and diverse Aegean marine life, enhancing the area's ecological and scenic value.
