Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea, was built in 1405 during the Joseon Dynasty as a royal secondary residence. After destruction during Japanese invasions in the 16th century, it was rebuilt and later became a primary royal court. Its Secret Garden, Huwon, features ponds, pavilions, and forests designed in harmony with natural landscape principles. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a remarkable example of traditional Korean palace architecture and landscape design visited worldwide continuing to inspire cultural appreciation and historical understanding today.
