The Indian Cave

The Indian Cave, located along the northern coastline of Arecibo, is one of the most significant natural and archaeological landmarks in Puerto Rico. Shaped over thousands of years by Atlantic Ocean erosion on limestone cliffs, the cave features striking rock formations, rugged coastal landscapes, and sweeping ocean views. Its greatest historical importance lies in the TaĆno petroglyphs carved into the stone walls, preserving the legacy of the island's Indigenous inhabitants prior to European arrival. These carvings depict human figures, spiritual symbols, and elements of TaĆno cosmology. The site also witnessed early Spanish exploration during the 16th century. Today, it attracts visitors for hiking, cultural discovery, and photography, offering a powerful blend of pre-Columbian heritage and dramatic Caribbean scenery.

Casa Roig Museum

The Casa Roig Museum, located in Humacao, is an elegant neoclassical residence built in 1910 by Czech architect Antonin Nechodoma for the Roig family. Regarded as one of the first reinforced concrete houses in Puerto Rico, it features spacious verandas, classical columns, and refined architectural details. Donated to the University of Puerto Rico in 1989, it now operates as a museum and cultural center, preserving original furnishings, artwork, and historical documents that illustrate the social and economic life of eastern Puerto Rico in the early twentieth century.
