Legoland Billund

Legoland Billund is the world's first Legoland park, opened in 1968 in Billund, Denmark, next to the original Lego factory. It was created to showcase intricate models built from millions of Lego bricks and has grown into one of Denmark's most visited attractions. The park is surrounded by the natural landscape of central Jutland, characterized by flat terrain, sandy soils, heathlands, and small mixed forests. Local flora includes hardy grasses, heather, birch trees, and conifer patches adapted to cool, windy conditions. The fauna in the region includes common European species such as foxes, rabbits, hedgehogs, and various birdlife like crows and pheasants. The overall ecosystem is semi-natural, shaped by both agriculture and tourism development. Despite heavy human influence from the Lego industry and visitors, green corridors, ponds, and landscaped park areas help support biodiversity and create a balanced environment around the Legoland Billund resort.

Lalandia Billund

Lalandia Billund is a large family holiday resort located in Billund, Denmark, opened on April 24, 2009 as part of the region's tourism development linked to Legoland and the Lego Group. It is situated in rural central Jutland, an area shaped by flat terrain, sandy soils, heathlands, wetlands, and small forest patches typical of western Denmark. The resort includes the Aquadome, one of Scandinavia's largest indoor water parks, along with holiday homes, restaurants, and recreational facilities. Its ecological setting combines the natural external environment with an artificial indoor tropical ecosystem featuring warm temperatures, high humidity, and decorative vegetation. The design emphasizes controlled climate conditions and sustainable resource use, including energy-efficient systems and water management to support year-round tourism activity.
