Costa Azul

Costa Azul
Costa Azul, known as the French Riviera, is a Mediterranean region of great historical and ecological richness. Since antiquity it was inhabited by Ligurians and later influenced by Greeks and Romans, who developed trading ports. Its ecosystem combines rocky coastline, beaches and hills with Mediterranean vegetation such as pines, oaks, lavender and scrubland. The fauna includes seabirds, gulls, dolphins in deeper waters, and small mammals in forested areas. The mild climate supports notable biodiversity, although it is pressured by urban tourism. Today it is a balance between natural conservation, cultural landscapes and intense tourist activity. We also see marine protected areas and ongoing environmental preservation efforts across the region today.

The CƓte d'Azur, located in southeastern France, has a unique Mediterranean ecosystem combining sea, mountains, and valleys. Its mild, sunny climate supports remarkable biodiversity. Along the coastline, marine life includes dolphins, Mediterranean fish, and vast Posidonia seagrass meadows, which are essential for oxygenating and stabilizing the sea environment. On land, typical vegetation includes pine trees, holm oaks, olive trees, lavender, rosemary, oleander, and bougainvillea, all adapted to dry summer conditions. In the inland areas, the Mercantour National Park offers alpine forests, lakes, and more than 2,000 plant species, making it one of Europe's richest natural zones. Wildlife includes foxes, wild boars, ibex, and numerous birds of prey. Historically, the region has been shaped by both human settlement and natural forces, leading to the creation of protected marine and terrestrial areas. Today, its balance between biodiversity, tourism, and conservation makes it a fragile yet extraordinary ecosystem.
