The Dubai Fountain, opened in 2009 beside the artificial lake of Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, is one of the world's largest choreographed fountain systems. Its performances combine water, light, and music, making it a modern symbol of Dubai. Although located in a highly urban setting, the lake attracts water birds such as herons, gulls, and migratory ducks. The surrounding ecosystem includes ornamental gardens, palm trees, and desert adapted landscaping, supporting local biodiversity and contributing to urban ecological balance.

The Dubai Fountain is one of Dubai's most iconic water attractions. Opened in 2009 alongside the development of Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, it was designed by the company behind the famous Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. Located on the artificial Burj Lake, it combines water jets, music, and lighting in large scale choreographed performances that attract millions of visitors annually. Although situated within a highly urbanized environment, the lake and surrounding landscaped areas form a small artificial ecosystem. The flora includes date palms, ornamental shrubs, bougainvillea, and other drought tolerant plants adapted to desert conditions. The fauna mainly consists of urban bird species such as pigeons, sparrows, occasional herons, and waterbirds visiting the lake. The site illustrates how modern urban design can incorporate green spaces and managed habitats within a desert metropolis.
