Museum Island, located on the Spree River, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Developed in the 19th century under Enlightenment ideals, it hosts institutions like the Pergamon Museum and Altes Museum. Its urban setting features ornamental flora such as linden and chestnut trees, along with adapted fauna including pigeons, sparrows, and river fish. The ecosystem is largely artificial, with designed green spaces blending nature and historic architecture into a culturally balanced urban environment.

Museum Island
The Museum Island, located on the Spree River in the heart of Berlin, is a unique complex recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its development began in the 19th century under the reign of Frederick William IV of Prussia, aiming to create a cultural space accessible to the public. The island hosts iconic museums such as the Pergamon Museum and the Altes Museum. Although it is an urban setting, its ecosystem includes riverside vegetation like poplars, lindens, and shrubs that provide shelter for birds such as sparrows, pigeons, and ducks. The Spree River contributes aquatic biodiversity with fish and microorganisms, supporting ecological balance. This site harmoniously blends history, monumental architecture, and a modest natural environment.

Neues Museum
The Neues Museum, located on Berlin's Museum Island, was built between 1843 and 1855 under Prussian King Frederick William IV and designed by Friedrich August Stüler. Originally an extension of the Altes Museum, it houses Egyptian, prehistoric, and classical collections. Severely damaged during World War II, it remained in ruins for decades until its restoration (1999ā2009). Its modern reconstruction preserves historical traces. Ecologically, it integrates within the Spree River landscape, blending cultural heritage with a sustainable urban environment.
