Valencia
The city of Valencia, located on Spain's Mediterranean coast, has a history dating back to Roman times. Its ecosystem blends fertile farmlands, wetlands, and coastal areas. The Albufera Natural Park stands out, featuring rice fields and lagoons that host migratory birds. Flora includes pines, holm oaks, and salt tolerant plants, while fauna ranges from herons and ducks to native fish species. This natural balance has been shaped by centuries of agriculture and the influence of the Mediterranean climate.

Valencia
The city of Valencia, founded as Valentia Edetanorum by the Romans in 138 BC, has a rich history shaped by Roman, Visigothic, and Muslim cultures until its Christian reconquest in 1238 by King James I. Its natural environment is highlighted by the Albufera, a coastal wetland of great ecological importance. The flora includes reeds, cattails, and Mediterranean pines, while the fauna features birds such as herons, flamingos, and ducks. The ecosystem blends sea, farmland, and freshwater lagoon, creating a unique biodiversity adapted to a Mediterranean climate. The Valencian huerta, irrigated by historic canals, demonstrates sustainable interaction between humans and nature. Today, Valencia balances urban development with environmental conservation, protecting key natural areas. This diverse environment supports native species and represents an essential ecological heritage within Spain and across Europe.

Oceanografic of Valencia
The Oceanografic of Valencia, opened in 2003 within the City of Arts and Sciences, is the largest aquarium in Europe. Designed by architect FƩlix Candela, it showcases diverse marine ecosystems such as the Arctic, Mediterranean, and tropical seas. It houses thousands of species, including dolphins, sharks, and beluga whales. Its mission blends scientific outreach, conservation, and environmental education. Since its inauguration, it has become a major tourist and research landmark, fostering marine biodiversity protection through education and conservation programs.
