Colisseum
The Colisseum, inaugurated in 80 AD under Emperor Titus, is an iconic amphitheater in Rome. Built of travertine stone and concrete, it symbolizes Roman engineering. Today, its ecosystem hosts spontaneous flora like ivy and grasses adapted to cracks and poor soils. Its fauna includes insects, birds such as pigeons, and small reptiles. This urban microhabitat reflects nature's resilience within a historic structure where ecology and architecture coexist.

Colisseum
The Colisseum, inaugurated in 80 A.C. under Emperor Titus, stands as an iconic symbol of Rome and the Roman Empire. This amphitheater, built from travertine stone and concrete, hosted gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. Over the centuries, its partially ruined structure has fostered a small urban ecosystem. Plants such as ivy and wild grasses grow within its cracks, attracting insects, birds, and small mammals. This environment highlights nature's resilience, blending history with biodiversity. Today, it remains a unique cultural landmark where ancient architecture and living ecosystems coexist, continuing to captivate visitors from around the world.

Colisseum
The Colosseum in Rome, inaugurated in A,C. 80 under Emperor Titus, is the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire and an enduring symbol of ancient engineering. Built from travertine, brick, and concrete, it hosted spectacles such as gladiatorial contests and animal hunts. After its decline, the structure endured centuries of neglect, looting, and reuse of its materials, allowing a unique microecosystem to emerge. Plants such as ivy, grasses, and wildflowers grow within its cracks, adapted to dry, calcareous conditions. This habitat supports insects, urban birds like pigeons and swifts, and small reptiles. Today, the Colosseum also serves as an ecological refuge within the city, where nature reclaims ancient stone, creating a balance between cultural heritage and urban biodiversity.

Arch of Constantine
The Arch of Constantine is a triumphal arch located near the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. It was built in 315 AD to commemorate Emperor Constantine I's victory at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The monument is famous for its reused reliefs taken from earlier imperial structures, illustrating the artistic transition of late Roman art. Its urban surroundings contribute to Rome's historical ecosystem, where Mediterranean vegetation and adapted urban wildlife, such as birds and small mammals, coexist within a dense cultural landscape. This balance reflects historical urban ecology in Rome.
