It was built between 1911 and 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary during the British colonial period. Designed in an Indo-Saracenic architectural style with Islamic influences, the monument is mainly constructed from yellow basalt and reinforced concrete stone. Located on the Arabian Sea waterfront at Mumbai Harbour, it served for decades as a ceremonial entrance to India. It also became historically significant as the site where the last British troops departed India in 1948, following the country's independence.

India Gate
Gateway of India is one of Mumbai's most famous historical monuments and a powerful symbol of the city's colonial heritage. It was built between 1913 and 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911 during the British colonial period. Designed by architect George Wittet, the monument represents the Indo-Saracenic architectural style, combining Hindu, Islamic, and European influences. Constructed with yellow basalt stone, it stands beside the Arabian Sea in the historic Colaba district. For many years, it served as a ceremonial entrance for British officials, dignitaries, and visitors arriving by sea. The monument gained additional historical significance in 1948 when the last British troops left India through this location after independence. Today, the Gateway of India remains a major cultural and tourist landmark, reflecting Mumbai's maritime history, architectural diversity, and transition from colonial rule to modern urban identity.

Elephant Cave
The Elephanta Caves are a historic group of rock cut temples located on Elephanta Island, off the coast of Mumbai. Mainly created between the 5th and 7th centuries, they represent a remarkable achievement of Hindu art and architecture dedicated to Lord Shiva. Their massive sculptures depict mythological themes carved into basalt rock, reflecting ancient religious traditions. The island ecosystem contains mangroves, tropical vegetation, and coastal wildlife. Preservation efforts protect both the archaeological heritage and the natural environment surrounding this UNESCO World Heritage site.
