The White Temple, also known as Wat Rong Khun, is a contemporary masterpiece created by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997. Its white architecture symbolizes spiritual purity and blends traditional Buddhist art with modern symbolism. Surrounded by tropical gardens, ponds, and native trees, the area supports birds, butterflies, and small reptiles typical of northern Thailand. Chiang Rai's ecosystem includes humid forests, rice fields, and rivers that sustain rich biodiversity. The White Temple, locally called Wat Rong Khun, is a contemporary masterpiece created by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997 on the remains of an ancient Buddhist temple. Its brilliant white architecture symbolizes spiritual purity and is covered with mirrored glass mosaics reflecting northern Thailand's tropical sunlight. The surrounding landscape includes gardens, ponds, and wooded areas filled with bamboo, orchids, lotus flowers, and tropical trees. Local wildlife features kingfishers, bulbuls, butterflies, and small reptiles adapted to the humid climate. The regional ecosystem belongs to the tropical monsoon forest zone, influenced by nearby rivers and mountains that support rich biodiversity, fertile vegetation, and warm temperatures throughout most of the year.
