Antigua Guatemala

Antigua Guatemala was founded in 1543 as Santiago de los Caballeros and served as the capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala for over two centuries. Its Renaissance urban layout and rich Baroque architecture reflect the political, religious, and economic power it achieved during the colonial era. The city flourished as an administrative and cultural center, hosting universities, convents, and artistic workshops. However, a series of earthquakes culminated in the devastating Santa Marta earthquake of 1773, leading to the relocation of the capital to present-day Guatemala City. Antigua was partially abandoned, which helped preserve its ruins, churches, and stately homes. In the 20th century, its historical value was rediscovered, and in 1979 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, it stands as a symbol of Guatemalan identity and colonial heritage.

Day trip to Lake Atitlán

A day trip to Lake Atitlán provides an unforgettable experience in one of Guatemala's most beautiful landscapes. Surrounded by the Atitlán, Tolimán, and San Pedro volcanoes, the lake is known for its deep waters and ever-changing blue hues. The excursion usually includes a boat ride and visits to Mayan villages such as Panajachel, Santiago Atitlán, or San Juan La Laguna, where travelers discover local handicrafts, living traditions, and a rich cultural heritage.

We look forward to your visit
