According to its own history page, in the 1970s a family turned their home into a small hotel after their original business did not succeed. As interest in Monteverde grew, the project expanded and became a well-known lodging option in the area. Today, the hotel sits within a 4-hectare garden in the heart of the cloud forest, with nature trails and wide panoramic views. Its character blends rustic charm with modern comfort, and its rooms are designed for couples, families, and adventure travelers. The hotel also serves as a strong base for exploring Monteverde, which it describes as the cradle of ecotourism in Costa Rica, with activities such as hanging bridges, canopy tours, and wildlife observation.
Biodiversity
Monteverde, in the mountains of Puntarenas, is renowned for its cloud forest, where constant mist, high humidity, and varied life zones support remarkable biodiversity. The forest shelters orchids, bromeliads, tree ferns, ficus, and avocado trees, along with quetzals, three-wattled bellbirds, monkeys, jaguarundis, and hundreds of bird species. Visitors can join guided hikes, early-morning birdwatching, night walks, canopy and suspension-bridge tours, coffee experiences, and canyoning, especially around Monteverde, Santa Elena, and the Children's Eternal Rainforest.
