Botos Lagoon

Laguna Botos is located within the crater of PoƔs Volcano in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This active volcano, with over 7,000 years of history, is known for its eruptions and geothermal activity. The lagoon, with cold, clear waters, formed in an old secondary crater and is surrounded by cloud forests that host ferns, mosses, and endemic birds such as the rufous hummingbird and tapaculo. Its biodiversity and scenery provide a natural and spectacular refuge for visitors exploring the national park trails. It is a site of great ecological and scientific importance.
