The Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern is one of Lucerne's most iconic historic hotels, located on the shores of Lake Lucerne and surrounded by the Swiss Alps. Opened in 1906 as the Palace Hotel Luzern, it was designed in Belle Ćpoque style by architect Heinrich Meili-Wapf. From the beginning, it became famous for its innovative luxury, featuring private bathrooms and panoramic lake views, which were considered exceptional at the time. After decades of history connected to European grand tourism and several major renovations, the property reopened in 2022 under the Mandarin Oriental brand, blending classical elegance, cultural heritage, and contemporary Swiss design.

The property quickly became famous for its modern luxury, offering private bathrooms in many guest rooms, an extraordinary feature at the time. During both World Wars, the hotel partially served as a medical and logistics center. After decades of prestige and several restorations, the building underwent a major renovation completed in 2022 before reopening as Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, blending historic elegance with contemporary Swiss hospitality and international sophistication.

Museggmauer
The Museggmauer is a medieval wall built between the 14th and 15th centuries to defend the city of Lucerne. Much of its original structure survives, including nine towers, several open to visitors with panoramic views of the lake and the Alps. Historically, it represents Lucerne's independence and military strength during the early Swiss Confederation period. Ecologically, the ancient stone walls provide habitat for mosses, lichens, and urban bird species adapted to the alpine climate. Nearby green spaces and vegetation support local biodiversity while preserving harmony between cultural heritage and nature.
