Hotel Jungle Lodge Tikal

Jungle Lodge Tikal traces its history back to 1956, when it was established as the first scientific camp within the Tikal area to host archaeologists from the University of Pennsylvania during the earliest formal excavations of the ancient Maya city. Its original, modest buildings were designed to support research, restoration, and fieldwork that helped uncover Tikal's archaeological significance. Over the years, the camp gradually evolved into a hotel while preserving its deep connection to scientific exploration and the surrounding Petén rainforest. Family-managed since its foundation, Jungle Lodge became a historic landmark of cultural tourism in Guatemala, offering unique accommodation inside Tikal National Park and blending natural heritage, archaeological legacy, and traditional hospitality.

Ecological Tour to the Blue Crater

The Ecological Tour to Cráter Azul, in Flores, Petén, centers on an ancient flooded cave system shaped by karstic processes over thousands of years. Historically used by local communities as a natural water source, the site remained largely untouched until its recent ecotourism development. Today, it symbolizes conservation efforts and reflects the long-standing relationship between humans, the Petén rainforest, and vital freshwater resources.
