Construction was carried out gradually using traditional local techniques, carefully adapting to the lake's volcanic terrain. What began as a private residence eventually developed into a distinctive boutique hotel, known for its vertical design, cascading terraces, and private docks. Over the years, La Casa del Mundo became closely connected to the Jaibalito community, providing employment and encouraging sustainable tourism. Today, it stands as an iconic lodging at Lake Atitlán, appreciated for its history, unique architecture, and strong sense of place.
