It marked the city's emergence into European high end hospitality, hosting diplomats and elite travelers. After a major restoration in 2005, it blends neoclassical architecture with contemporary design by Pierre-Yves Rochon. Hotel des Bergues
The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva is one of Switzerland's most iconic luxury hotels and the first grand hotel ever built in Geneva. Opened in 1834, it was the city's earliest major hotel and played a key role in establishing Geneva as a destination for elite European travel. Its neoclassical landmark building sits directly on the shores of Lake Geneva, preserving much of its original architectural grandeur. After a full restoration completed in 2005, the property became part of the Four Seasons portfolio, blending historic heritage with refined modern luxury. The redesign by Pierre-Yves Rochon preserved classical French elegance while introducing contemporary comfort and discreet sophistication. Today, the hotel features opulent rooms and suites, many with lake and Alpine views, along with fine Italian dining, an exclusive rooftop spa, and personalized service. It remains a symbol of timeless hospitality, where 19th century grandeur meets modern Swiss luxury in the heart of Geneva.

Mont Salève
Mont Salève, located just southeast of Geneva, is a prominent limestone mountain rising in France but closely tied to Swiss cultural and natural heritage. Often called the "balcony of Geneva," it offers sweeping views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Historically, it attracted Enlightenment-era naturalists and early hikers. Its ecology includes beech forests, alpine meadows, and diverse wildlife such as birds of prey and deer. Today it is a protected recreational area popular for hiking, paragliding, and scientific environmental observation and ongoing cross-border conservation efforts between France and Switzerland authorities.
