Meliá Jardines del Rey

The Meliá Jardines del Rey is a five star resort opened in 2014 on Cayo Coco, part of the Jardines del Rey archipelago. It forms part of Cuba's tourism expansion following the 1988 causeway that connected these once isolated fishing cays to the mainland. Located on Flamenco Beach, it sits within a rich ecosystem of mangroves, dunes, lagoons, and one of the Caribbean's largest coral reef systems. The area supports diverse wildlife, including flamingos, white ibises, and coastal reptiles. Designed with plantation-style architecture, the resort blends modern amenities with a highly biodiverse natural setting, reflecting the ecological importance of this coastal environment.
