Over the years, it has hosted international events, official delegations, and cultural gatherings, becoming the only five-star hotel in Santiago de Cuba. San Pedro de la Roca Castle
The San Pedro de la Roca Castle, known as El Morro, is a 17th-century fortress designed by Italian engineer Juan Bautista Antonelli to defend the bay of Santiago de Cuba from pirates and rival powers. Built on terraces over a rocky promontory, it features bastions, moats, and artillery batteries adapted to the terrain. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, it stands as one of the best-preserved examples of Renaissance military architecture in the Caribbean.
