Meliá Santiago de Cuba Hotel
The Meliá Santiago de Cuba is a landmark hotel in eastern Cuba, inaugurated in 1991 as part of the island's modern tourism expansion. Rising 15 floors with over 300 rooms, it features contemporary architecture and a strategic location near the historic center, offering panoramic views of the city and the Sierra Maestra mountains. Over the years, it has hosted international events, official delegations, and cultural gatherings, becoming the only five-star hotel in Santiago de Cuba. Its surrounding ecosystem blends urban and tropical environments typical of the region: warm climate, palm vegetation, ornamental gardens, and fauna adapted to both city and nearby mountain habitats. The proximity to the Sierra Maestra enhances regional biodiversity, including birds, reptiles, and endemic plant species. The hotel has adopted environmental management practices focused on energy and water conservation, aligning tourism development with ecological preservation and local environmental regulations.

San Pedro de la Roca Castle
The San Pedro de la Roca Castle, known as El Morro, is a 17th-century fortress designed by Italian engineer Juan Bautista Antonelli to defend the bay of Santiago de Cuba from pirates and rival powers. Built on terraces over a rocky promontory, it features bastions, moats, and artillery batteries adapted to the terrain. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, it stands as one of the best-preserved examples of Renaissance military architecture in the Caribbean.
