Somoto Canyon
The Somoto Canyon, located in northern Nicaragua in the department of Madriz, is a remarkable geological formation carved over five million years ago by the Coco River. Scientifically recognized in 2004, it features towering rock walls reaching up to 150 meters, narrow corridors, and clear freshwater pools. Historically, it served as a natural passage for indigenous communities.
