Stiftsgården
Stiftsgården is the official royal residence in Trondheim and one of the largest wooden palaces in Northern Europe. Built between 1774 and 1778 for Cecilie Christine Schøller, it symbolizes Trondheim's cultural and commercial prosperity during the eighteenth century. Its architecture blends Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical styles, featuring elegant halls and historic gardens. Since 1906, it has served exclusively as the Norwegian royal family's residence during visits to the region. The ecological surroundings of Stiftsgården are enriched by its urban park, ancient trees, colorful flowerbeds, and green spaces that support biodiversity while providing environmental balance within Trondheim's historic city center.
