The Dolder Grand

The Dolder Grand is an iconic luxury hotel located on the Adlisberg hill above Zurich, Switzerland. It opened in 1899 as the "Kurhaus and Grand Hotel," designed by architect Jacques Gros for entrepreneur Heinrich Hürlimann, originally intended as a health retreat surrounded by nature. Over time, it evolved from a seasonal spa hotel into an exclusive year-round city resort. It has hosted royalty, artists, and global leaders, becoming a symbol of Swiss hospitality. After a major renovation led by Norman Foster in 2008, it blends historic architecture with contemporary design, contemporary art, and one of Europe's most renowned luxury spa facilities.

The Dolder Grand

The Dolder Grand is one of Zurich's most iconic luxury hotels in Switzerland, located on the Adlisberg hill with sweeping views over Lake Zurich, the Alps, and the city. Its history dates back to 1899, when it opened as the "Dolder Grand Hotel & Curhaus," designed by architect Jacques Gros for entrepreneur Heinrich Hürlimann. From the beginning, it was envisioned as a refined retreat in nature, linked to the city center by the Dolderbahn rack railway. Throughout the 20th century, the hotel transitioned from seasonal operations to a year round luxury destination, adding private bathrooms, expanded wings, and event facilities. In 1964, a modern extension was added to accommodate growing demand. After a major redevelopment led by architect Norman Foster, it reopened in 2008, blending historic heritage with contemporary design. Today, it operates as a luxury urban resort featuring world class dining, a spa, and an extensive art collection.
