Sverd i fjell
Sverd i fjell is one of Norway's most iconic monuments, located beside the Hafrsfjord fjord in the bay of MĆøllebukta. The sculpture was created by Norwegian artist Fritz RĆøed and unveiled by King Olav V in 1983. Its three giant bronze swords commemorate the Battle of Hafrsfjord in 872, when Harald Fairhair united Norway into a single kingdom. The monument also represents peace and unity because the swords are permanently fixed into the rock. The surrounding ecological landscape features fjords, sandy beaches, marine birds, walking trails, and green recreational areas popular with visitors, cyclists, and nature lovers throughout the year.
