Uluwatu Temple

The Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is a Balinese Hindu sea temple perched on a limestone cliff about 70 meters above the Indian Ocean on the Bukit Peninsula, Bali. Founded in the 11th century by the Javanese priest Dang Hyang Nirartha, it is one of Bali's six key directional temples. Its surrounding ecosystem includes coastal dry forest, cliff vegetation, and nearby mangrove and reef systems. Ocean upwelling supports rich marine biodiversity, including coral reefs and reef fish. The area is also home to long tailed macaques, seabirds, and insects. Coastal erosion and conservation pressures shape its fragile yet sacred environment. It remains an important cultural and ecological heritage site in Bali region.

Uluwatu Temple

The Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu) Templo de Uluwatu, located in southern Bali Bali, is one of Bali's six key directional sea temples, historically established around the 10th century and later expanded by the Javanese priest Dang Hyang Nirartha in the 16th century. Perched on a 70 meter limestone cliff above the Indian Ocean, it holds deep spiritual significance in Balinese Hinduism while also forming part of a fragile coastal ecosystem. The surrounding landscape features drought-resistant vegetation adapted to salt spray, including coastal shrubs, pandanus, and frangipani trees. This habitat supports diverse wildlife such as long-tailed macaques, seabirds, and various reptiles that thrive in cliff and forest edge environments. The site illustrates the intersection between sacred heritage and environmental conservation, where tourism pressure, erosion, and habitat disturbance require careful management. Despite challenges, it remains a vital symbol of Balinese identity and coastal ecological resilience in Indonesia attracting researchers pilgrims nature enthusiasts and visitors annually worldwide.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Ungasan, Bali, is a major cultural landmark dedicated to Hindu mythology. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park features the monumental statue of Vishnu riding Garuda, designed by Nyoman Nuarta. Initiated in the 1990s and completed in 2018, the project transformed former limestone quarries into a restored cultural landscape. Ecologically, it supports native vegetation, cliff ecosystems, and bird habitats. The park also hosts performances, exhibitions, and ceremonies, promoting Balinese heritage, environmental rehabilitation, and sustainable tourism across the Bukit Peninsula region. It stands as a symbol of modern Balinese cultural identity today.
