Jemaa el-Fnaa Square

Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, located in the heart of Marrakech, is Morocco's most iconic public square and the cultural and social center of the historic city. Its origins date back to the 11th century, when Marrakech was founded by the Almoravid dynasty, and it soon became a bustling meeting place for merchants, travelers, and local residents. Throughout the centuries, the square has preserved its authentic atmosphere, featuring traditional storytellers, musicians, acrobats, snake charmers, and street vendors who continue to keep Moroccan customs alive. As evening falls, Jemaa el-Fnaa transforms into a vibrant open air food market offering regional cuisine, fresh produce, and handcrafted goods. In recognition of its exceptional cultural significance and the preservation of its oral traditions and popular performances, UNESCO proclaimed it a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2001. Today, Jemaa el-Fnaa remains the living symbol of Marrakech and one of Morocco's most treasured cultural landmarks.

Bay Palace

Bahia Palace, located in the historic medina of Marrakech, is one of Morocco's finest examples of 19th century traditional architecture. Construction began around 1866 and was expanded by Grand Vizier Ba Ahmed, transforming it into an elegant residence featuring courtyards, richly decorated salons, colorful zellige tilework, carved cedar ceilings, and ornamental gardens. Its design blends Andalusian and Islamic artistic traditions. The palace gardens contain orange trees, palms, jasmine, and bougainvillea that support urban biodiversity by providing habitat for birds and pollinating insects while creating a peaceful ecological oasis within bustling Marrakech.
