Intramuros
Intramuros, known as the "Walled City," is the historic heart of Manila and was established by the Spanish in 1571 as the center of colonial administration. Its fortified walls, churches, and historic buildings preserve centuries of history, resilience, and reconstruction following World War II. Although surrounded by a modern urban environment, Intramuros features landscaped gardens, tropical trees, and green spaces that provide habitat for birds, butterflies, small reptiles, and ornamental plants. This urban ecosystem supports local biodiversity while harmoniously combining cultural heritage, nature, and environmental conservation.

Intramuros
Intramuros, known as the "Walled City," is the historic heart of Manila, Philippines. Founded by the Spanish in 1571, it served as the political, military, and religious center of the Spanish colonial government for more than three centuries. Its massive stone walls, bastions, churches, and historic buildings showcase Spanish colonial architecture and Europe's cultural influence in Asia. Although heavily damaged during World War II, much of its heritage has been carefully restored. Its urban ecosystem includes landscaped gardens, tropical trees, palms, acacias, and ornamental plants that provide habitat for sparrows, pigeons, swallows, butterflies, and other small wildlife. Intramuros
Intramuros, known as "The Walled City," is the historic heart of Manila, Philippines. Established by the Spanish in 1571 under the leadership of Miguel López de Legazpi, it served as the political, military, religious, and commercial center of the archipelago for more than three centuries. Its impressive stone walls, bastions, churches, and colonial buildings reflect European architectural traditions adapted to the tropical climate of Southeast Asia. Although much of the district was heavily damaged during World War II, many landmarks have been carefully restored to preserve their historical significance. The area's urban ecosystem includes landscaped gardens, shaded plazas, and small parks featuring native and tropical trees such as narra, acacia, palms, and flowering bougainvillea. Local wildlife includes urban birds, butterflies, fruit bats, geckos, and numerous pollinating insects that contribute to the area's biodiversity. Today, Intramuros stands as a remarkable blend of cultural heritage, ecological value, green spaces, and vibrant urban life in Manila.

Pambata Museum
Pambata Museum, located in Manila, Philippines, opened in 1994 as the country's first interactive children's museum. Housed in a historic building near Rizal Park, it encourages hands-on learning through play, exploration, and engaging exhibits focused on science, culture, health, and the environment. Its educational programs inspire creativity, critical thinking, and family participation. The museum also promotes environmental awareness by teaching visitors about protecting Philippine ecosystems, conserving biodiversity, reducing pollution, and adopting sustainable practices that help preserve natural resources for future generations and local communities alike.
