Train to the Clouds

The Train to the Clouds is one of Argentina's most remarkable railway achievements, inaugurated in 1948 as part of the General Belgrano Railway. Designed by American engineer Richard Maury, it crosses the Andes Mountains reaching over 4,200 meters in altitude. Its route features viaducts, tunnels, and spirals, with the iconic La Polvorilla viaduct as a highlight. Originally built for freight transport to Chile, it is now a major tourist attraction offering breathtaking Andean landscapes and insights into local highland culture.
