Ant Atoll, located approximately 18 kilometers southwest of Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, is one of the best preserved marine ecosystems in the western Pacific Ocean. The atoll consists of a coral reef enclosing a clear lagoon and several small sandy islets. For generations, it has supported local communities through traditional fishing and the sustainable use of marine resources. Today, it is protected as part of a marine conservation area dedicated to safeguarding its exceptional biodiversity. Its coral reefs are home to more than one hundred species of hard and soft corals, colorful reef fish, reef sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and numerous mollusks. The islets provide important nesting and resting habitats for many seabird species.
