Nara
Nara, served as Japan's first permanent capital from the 8th century, shaping early political and religious history. It is renowned for its UNESCO-listed temples such as Todai-ji and Kofuku-ji, which reflect Buddhist influence. Ecologically, Nara Park supports free-roaming sacred deer and surrounding secondary forests of cedar and oak linked to Kasuga-taisha shrine. This landscape forms a rare urban-forest ecosystem where wildlife and human heritage coexist, preserving biodiversity including birds, insects, and seasonal flora within a historically preserved cultural setting. A vital cultural and ecological landscape.

Nara

Nara
Nara was Japan's first permanent capital during the Nara period (710ā794) and preserves an exceptional historical and cultural heritage. Temples such as Todai-ji and Shinto shrines coexist with Nara Park, famous for its sacred deer that roam freely. The city is surrounded by mountainous forests that support rich temperate biodiversity, including forest birds and small mammals. Its ecosystems blend historic urban areas with protected natural landscapes, creating a unique balance between culture and nature. Today Nara is an important tourist destination and a symbol of Japan's spiritual heritage. The region also plays an important role in conservation and environmental education efforts within central Honshu's ecological corridor network in Japan today significantly

Nara
Nara, Japan's ancient capital from the 8th century under the name Heijo-kyo, is a major historical and spiritual center. It preserves some of the country's most important cultural landmarks, including Todai-ji Temple and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, both deeply integrated into a natural landscape that has remained relatively preserved for centuries. The city is surrounded by temperate forests of the Kansai region, rich in Japanese cedar, oak, and bamboo species. In Nara Park, free roaming sika deer are considered sacred messengers in Shinto tradition, symbolizing the close relationship between humans and nature. The area's ecological biodiversity includes ancient woodlands, hills, and wetland ecosystems that support a wide range of flora and fauna. This harmonious balance between cultural heritage and natural environment has earned Nara recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its global significance in history, ecology, and conservation.

Kofuku-ji
Kofuku-ji is a historic Buddhist temple located in Nara, Japan, founded in the 7th century by the powerful Fujiwara clan. It was relocated several times before settling in its current site. The temple is famous for its five-story pagoda, one of the tallest in Japan, and for its role as a religious and political center. Within Nara's natural environment, it coexists with sacred deer and temperate forests that form a protected ecosystem in Nara Park. It is also UNESCO World Heritage cultural property symbol of Japanese heritage and continuity identity.
