Nandauwas
Nandauwas is the most impressive structure within the archaeological complex of Nan Madol, located off the southeastern coast of Pohnpei. Built between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries from massive basalt columns, it served as the principal ceremonial and royal burial enclosure of the Saudeleur dynasty. Surrounded by tidal canals and thriving mangrove forests, the site supports diverse marine life, including fish, crustaceans, and coastal birds.
