Fujikawa Maru
The Fujikawa Maru was a Japanese merchant vessel built in 1938 that was converted into a military transport ship during World War II, carrying supplies, personnel, and aircraft. Sunk in 1944 during Operation Hailstone in Truk Lagoon (Chuuk), it is now one of the world's most famous wreck diving sites. Its remains, covered with corals, sponges, and tropical fish, have become an artificial marine ecosystem. This historic wreck combines wartime heritage, underwater archaeology, and marine conservation, preserving both the memory of the Pacific conflict and the rich biodiversity of Micronesia.
