Caiman Ecological Refuge
The CaimƔn Ecological Refuge is a conservation area located in the Pantanal region of Brazil, one of the largest wetlands in the world. This refuge was established to protect the unique biodiversity of the wetland ecosystem, characterized by seasonal flood cycles. Its history is linked to private and community conservation initiatives that emerged in the late twentieth century to curb deforestation and illegal hunting. The refuge is home to caimans, capybaras, jaguars, water birds, and a wide variety of fish. In addition, scientific research and sustainable ecotourism are promoted as tools for environmental preservation with a strong educational focus and protection of native endangered species and ecosystem and conservation efforts.

Caiman Ecological Refuge
The Caiman Ecological Refuge is an important ecotourism center located in the Brazilian Pantanal, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. It was established in 1985 as one of the region's pioneering sustainable tourism projects, operating within a large cattle ranch. Its main goal is to combine the conservation of the Pantanal ecosystem with scientific research, responsible cattle ranching, and nature-based tourism. The area is part of a vast property of more than 50,000 hectares, which includes protected natural reserves. The refuge is known for its exceptional biodiversity, including species such as jaguars, caimans, capybaras, and over 300 bird species. It also supports conservation programs such as the Hyacinth Macaw Project. Visitors can take part in photographic safaris, canoe trips, horseback riding, and wildlife observation, experiencing the natural flood cycle of the Pantanal, one of the richest wetlands in the world.

Porto Jofre
Porto Jofre is a small river port located at the southern end of the Brazilian Pantanal, one of the richest wetlands on Earth. Historically, it developed as a logistical and fishing outpost along the CuiabĆ” River, supporting navigation and regional activities. Over time, it evolved into a key ecotourism base. Today it is internationally known as one of the best places to observe wild jaguars in their natural habitat, along with caimans, capybaras, and diverse bird species. The ecosystem depends on seasonal flooding cycles that sustain exceptional biodiversity across the region.
