Eyasi Lake
Lake Eyasi is a seasonal, saline, alkaline lake located in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania, within the Great Rift Valley and south of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Formed through ancient tectonic activity, it has long supported indigenous communities such as the Hadza and Datoga. Its ecosystem changes dramatically with seasonal rainfall, alternating between expansive salt flats and temporary wetlands. The lake provides habitat for flamingos, pelicans, storks, antelope, and many migratory bird species, while drought resistant vegetation thrives in its harsh, mineral rich environment throughout the year.
