Manta Ray Bay Resort

Manta Ray Bay Resort is one of the best known dive resorts on Yap Island in the Federated States of Micronesia. Established in 1986 by former Peace Corps volunteer Bill Acker, the resort was created to provide a destination designed by divers for divers. Over the years, it has earned an international reputation for its exceptional manta ray encounters, pristine coral reefs, dramatic walls, and historic World War II wrecks. Every guest room features an individual marine life theme inspired by the rich biodiversity of the Pacific Ocean, while the iconic Mnuw floating restaurant, housed aboard a restored traditional sailing vessel, gives the property a distinctive character. Beyond offering comfortable accommodations and world-class diving, the resort actively supports marine conservation, scientific research, and environmental education. It collaborates with conservation organizations to protect manta rays, sharks, and other marine species, promoting sustainable tourism while preserving Yap's remarkable natural and cultural heritage for future generations.

Mangyol Stone Money Bank

The Mangyol Stone Money Bank, located in the Federated States of Micronesia, preserves valuable traditional stone money linked to Yapese culture. These massive limestone disks, known as rai, represented wealth, prestige, and social relationships rather than everyday currency. Many were transported from Palau through dangerous seafaring expeditions spanning centuries, demonstrating remarkable navigation and craftsmanship. The site also reflects the close connection between cultural heritage and the natural environment, where mangrove forests, coral reefs, and tropical woodlands support diverse wildlife, protect coastal ecosystems, and help maintain the ecological balance of the surrounding islands.
