Pier of the Souls
The Pier of the Souls, located on the western coast of ChiloƩ Island, is a symbolic artistic structure created by Chilean sculptor Marcelo Orellana. Inspired by Huilliche legends, it marks the place where souls await passage to the afterlife, guided by the mythical boatman Tempilkawe. Built with native wood, it harmonizes with cliffs and windswept fields. More than a viewpoint, it serves as a spiritual landmark, reflecting local worldview where nature, mythology, and cultural memory merge in silence, contemplation, and a profound sense of ancestral connection.
