Mount Fitz Roy
Monte Fitz Roy, also known as Cerro Chaltén, is a dramatic granite peak located in Argentine Patagonia within Los Glaciares National Park near El Chaltén. It rises to 3,405 meters and is famous for its jagged silhouette and extreme weather conditions. The mountain was named after Robert FitzRoy, captain of the HMS Beagle. It is a major destination for climbers and hikers worldwide due to its challenging ascents, glaciers, and stunning landscapes. Indigenous peoples considered it a sacred mountain and an icon of Patagonian mountaineering culture in southern Argentina today.
